Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

The medical assistant plays an integral role in the medical field by serving as an intermediary between the doctor and the patient. They carry out both clinical and administrative
tasks that aid physicians and other health care practitioners.
Some of these important tasks include: preparing exam rooms, managing laboratory tests and x-rays, updating patient medical records, and most importantly, building
relationships with patients.

Requirements and Certification

After successful completion of the medical
assistant program, the student is eligible to
apply to the American Allied Health
Association and for Medical Assistant
Certification Test. Passing this test allows the
student to use the initials RMA (registered
medical assistant).
