Students signing up for one of our diploma programs sign-in at the table(s) with one of our counselors, Shay Lastra, or Gretchen Sawyer, and take a seat.

Then, our school president, David Patty, welcomes our newcomers. Next, our Director of Student Services, Brooke Daniel, shares some tips on how to best navigate the NWTI experience.

After that, our instructors introduce themselves and talk about their respective programs. IT'S ALL IN A MORNING'S WORK!

WHAT WENT ON AT NWTI TODAY?

We had a special NWTI Board of Directors meeting where we welcomed our newest member: Jason Coyle. Jason holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master’s in Supply Chain Management from the University of Arkansas. And is known for his strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven problem-solving in fast-paced environments.

Jason had this to say about his appointment: "I am proud to share that I’ve been appointed by Governor Sanders to the Board of Directors of Northwest Technical Institute (NWTI), where I’ve served as a board member for the institution’s foundation over the past year."

He continued with, "the school offers everything from full diploma programs to short-term industry training courses. The facilities and staff are true professionals and are dedicated to creating the next generation of leaders in the workforce of tomorrow. Whether it’s automation and controls, ammonia refrigeration, nursing, CDL training and more, they’ve got what you need."

WHICH STUDENTS HAVE EARNED their certificates today? Instructor Patrick Meyer's (tall gentleman in the white shirt) latest Basic AC Motors and Motor Controls class finished up today!

Through guided lab activities and real-world scenarios, students gained practical skills in motor control design, installation, and fault diagnosis, including reversing starters, jogging circuits, interlocks, and variable frequency drives. Congratulations to this latest group of certificate earners!

**What Went On At NWTI Last Week**

Last week our Diesel Technology Program had a recruiter from J.A. Riggs Caterpillar come by and speak to the students about being a technician and job roles available to diesel students (not just turning wrenches). This week? It's finals time! So go back in time with us to December 9th, where our Diesel Tech students guided by their instructors, worked on some end of the semester projects.

**What's going on today at NWTI?**

Today, Electronics and Automation student **William Burton** was awarded a **$2,500 Show-Drive-Give Scholarship** from *Cruising the Ozarks*. This scholarship is built to champion students who are stepping boldly into the skilled trades—people with the drive to learn, the hands to build, and the heart to lead.

The selection committee evaluates applicants on academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement, while also weighing each student’s passion for technical education and their potential to make a real impact in the field.

William stood out. William earned it.
